About me

I am an enthusiastic researcher who enjoys learning, teaching, and discovery. I’m interested in interactions between marine microorganisms and their environment, and in how human activities are changing these interactions. Outside of research, I also care deeply about improving ways that we as scientists communicate our science to the public.

My PhD research pairs molecular tools with biogeochemical rate measurements to better understand marine microbial processes. I am currently working on projects examining the environmental controls of harmful Vibrio species in coastal Oregon waters and estuaries (funded by EPA STAR fellowship) and linking diversity to function for communities of nitrogen-fixing bacteria. I anticipate completing my PhD in December 2016.
